This is a requisition for two strong and experienced Systems Engineers that can work on their own and be productive. This person would start immediately and work on various IP Product Projects and support of those projects. This is a renewable 6-month contract with potential for buyout and permanent offer. This position will involve performing operating system installations within a RedHat Enterprise 4 environment. Basic Knowledge of Perl/Shell Scripting while being able to modify existing scripts. Candidates will have understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and other Internet protocols. Candidates with experience working with VMWare and understanding concepts of visualizations will have an upper hand at gaining this opportunity. This group is looked at as the business driver, due to network speed and security being the business number one priority.

Linux Systems Administration with the following skills:

·              Performing operating system installations

·              Applying patches

·              Troubleshooting system software or application problems

·              RedHat experience is strongly preferred

·              Experience with using Linux in a production environment, not just playing with it at home.

Intel Server hardware maintenance with the following skills:

·              Installation and configuration of X86 servers

·              Troubleshooting hardware problems

·              Performing hardware maintenance such as parts replacement or installation.

·              HP Proliant and/or Dell hardware experience preferred

Basic Shell / Perl scripting experience

·              Ability to read and understand existing scripts

·              Minor modifications of existing scripts may be needed

Networking experience with the following skills:

·              Knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and other internet protocols

·              Experience with host based firewalls such as ipfilter / ipchains

·              Awareness of general security principles for devices placed on the Internet

Other / Misc:

·              Team player and ability to follow standards and existing processes

·              Ability to follow established procedures for performing work

·              Ability to document work being performed

·              General knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

·              Ability to install equipment such as servers or disk arrays in data center racks

·              Basic understanding of Oracle databases

Desired or Nice to Have Requirements

Virtualization / VMWare

·              Understanding of virtualization concepts

·              VMWare ESX installation and administration experience

·              Experience with VMWare ESX

Solaris Systems Administration with the following skills:

·              Performing operating system installations

·              Applying patches

·              Troubleshooting system software or application problems

·              Troubleshooting hardware problems

·              Performing hardware maintenance such as parts replacement or installation on Sun servers

·              Solaris 10 experience, especially zones technology

Other / Misc.

·              Usage of tools(such as Remedy) for problem tracking / recording

·              Previous experience in an ISP or service provider environment is very helpful

·              Knowledge of Windows 2003 server environment

·              Experience with Netscreen / Juniper firewalls

·              Experience with F5 load balancers
