Ok, so apparently there was a bit of a miscommunication between Graham and myself as his talk was only partially on what I said it would be about. Graham spoke at length about a project he's been working on to ban players from the video game Modern Warfare 2. He covered his use of AnyEvent, Plack, Net::PCap, Net::Route, Strawberry Perl, and a whole slew of other things. It was one of the most interesting talks I think we've ever had. Anyway, very good talk.

There were 12 attendees this time, so about average, or perhaps slightly above average turn out. This includes one new member, Eric. Welcome Eric!

Next month I'll either be giving a talk on my super secret project, or on my new module Facebook::Graph. If I do the later, the talk will actually be about how to build a Facebook app in under 10 minutes or 100 lines of code (which ever comes first). I'll likely build one of the apps that was suggested at tonight's meeting. Suggestions so far are:

Import an .ics (iCal) file into Facebook events.

Import an RSS feed into the Facebook wall.

Get an email of the posts to your friends Facebook walls.

Send an email to post to your Facebook wall.

Autopost stuff to your Facebook wall based on how it's tagged in Twitter.

Translate Facebook wall posts into another language using the Google Translate API.

Or perhaps something else if someone suggests something, or I think of something more interesting to do.

Hey all.. great to meet you. Very Interesting talk. I was impressed.. as Informal as it was I could tell this was more than your typical meeting. I sense a group of critical thinkers, dreamers, and Inventive minds.. I originally taught myself PERL with the help of the O'Reilly series (great books) because I had Ideas, and no money.. (Imagine that).. I started a computer repair shop in 1998 with a line of BS and a can of paint I took from my dads garage and started my own computer brand.. (back when there was still money in it). I got a T1 line and a linux box and the rest is history..

Yes, My name is Eric, I'm still wet behind the ears a bit but I think I could enjoy these monthly meetings.. Thanks for having me -E
